In this class, Mayra Garcia from celebrateMe!, will teach you how to make your own Royal Icing to fill and outline your cookies. Each student will receive 10 pre-baked cookies ready to be decorated. Some of the designs included are Fall Leaves, Pumpkins, Turkeys and Scarecrows!

The workshop will last for 2 hours and will include a box to take your treats home in.

Available to students ages 13+, children ages 10-12 accepted if accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the workshop.

November 17th, Saturday, 1pm-3pm –  Parent & Me Class: Thanksgiving Cake Pop and Pretzel Centerpiece Class  -  SOLD OUT

In this class, Mayra Garcia & Noemi Torres from celebrateMe!, will teach each parent/child team how to create a beautiful Thanksgiving table centerpiece. Each student will learn how to make Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Cake Pops to create a sweet Turkey centerpiece. Each pair will make 6 of each. They will learn how to mold, shape and dip their tasty treats while enjoying light refreshments.

All items and tools needed to decorate will be provided for use during the workshop only. Students will receive a 5% discount on all purchases at Fran's Cake and Candy Supplies on the day of the class.

Available to students 6-11 years old with their parent/adult team member.

November 18th, Sunday, 2pm-5pm –  Sugar Garden Rose Class - $135/student

In this class Steph Lawshe from Sweet Little Morsels, LLC will teach you how to make a beautiful Sugar Garden Rose that will provide that WOW factor to your cakes! You will learn how to work with sugar paste (Gumpaste), create a multi-petal center, cut out petals using single rose cutters, creating a realistic look to each petal, assembling and dusting your garden rose with subtle, yet realistic shading.

Students will be provided with sugar paste, a set of Rose cutters, and a cake dummy to place flowers in to take home.

All items and tools needed to create the Garden Rose will be provided for use during the class only. Students will receive a 5% discount on all purchases at Fran's Cake and Candy Supplies on the day of the class.

Available for students ages 16+ - Beginner to intermediate.

You will also learn various chocolate sculpting techniques to decorate your cake. The workshop will begin with a demo on how to build, fill and ice a cake properly. Each student will receive a 6” crumb coated cake ready to be decorated. The workshop will include a box to take the cake home in.

Available to students ages 13+, children ages 10-12 accepted if accompanied by an adult who is also enrolled in the workshop.

In this class Steph Lawshe from Sweet Little Morsels, LLC will teach you how to cover a cake with fondant and achieve clean/straight edges. The class will begin with a quick demo of Steph covering a cake that's been iced with buttercream, followed with her guiding each student as they cover their own cake dummy. She will also share some tips, tricks and a few simple design techniques. This is a great class for beginners and bakers who have trouble working with fondant and covering cakes.

Students will be provided with fondant, a cake dummy to cover and take home after the class.

December 15th & December 16th, 1pm - 4pm – 3D Elf Cottage Cookie Workshop - $165/student

In this class, Mayra Garcia from celebrateMe!, will teach you how to create a 3-D Sugar Cookie Gingerbread House. The first day of the workshop will begin with a demo on how to make and color royal icing followed by filling and piping the walls of your Gingerbread House and character cookies. On the second day you will add final details to your cookies and build the houses. You will learn various piping techniques to make your house look like a Christmas winter wonderland!

Please note, this class is a 2 day class - December 15th and 16th from 1-4pm.

Edible Lace and Dress Class - Postponed - New date and time to be announced

Edible Lace Class

In this class, Linda Rothgeb from Cakes By Linda will teach you various methods and techniques for using edible lace/fabric from beginning to end. Edible lace/fabric is great for any cake including Quinceanera and Indian wedding cakes.  You will learn ruffles, cutting, coloring, sugar necklace and embellishing.

This is a two part class - day 1 is mandatory but day 2 is optional.

Day 1 - Saturday, November 10th, 2pm-4pm - $125  - Basics of working with edible lace

Day 2 - Sunday, November 11th, 2pm-4pm - $100 - Dress Assembly

Supplies needed:

  • Large (24x36) Silicon mat (Preferably ATECO, dark blue) or Frosted Vinyl 12G
  • Cake Dummies—(5,7,9) or (6,8,10) covered in fondant cover with cake board
  • Fine point scissors
  • 2 Brushes—One for piping gel. One Fan Brush.
  • Disco and Dusting colors of your choice.
  • SugarVeil Confectioner's Spreader preferred for lace spreading
  • Bring lace molds—Crystal Candy, Cake Lace, Chef Alan by Global Sugar Art or you may choose from Linda's selection

    Linda has been designing cakes since 1979 and has won numerous awards including including the 1st place award in the Best of Professional Division at the National Capital Area Cake Show in 2015.  You can see Linda's work at www.cakesbylinda.com.
