Buttercream Basics Cake Decorating Class (Cake4Kids)

About this class:

This Buttercream Basics class was designed specifically for Cake4Kids volunteer bakers. You will learn how to level, stack and crumb coat a two-layer, six-inch cake and apply a final layer of buttercream. We will practice writing skills and basic borders as well as discuss baking and decorating techniques.

This class is a great introduction for beginners as well as a refresher for those who want to practice their skills.

Meet Your Instructor:

Laura Larson has been a volunteer baker for Cake4Kids since 2019 when the NoVa chapter opened. She is the owner of Laura’s Custom Cakes, a licensed home-based bakery and is also a member of the Fran’s team. She has a passion for cake decorating and loves to share her excitement with others who want to learn. All The Details:

  • Age Level: 16+
  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • This is a private class for Cake 4 Kids volunteers only
  • All supplies and tools are provided for use during class.
  • We will provide a box to take your cake home in
  • The class may be a little messy so we recommend bringing an apron.
  • If you have long hair, you may want to tie it back.
  • Price is per person. A ticket must be purchased for each individual attending the class.
  • Class requires a minimum of 4 students and there is a maximum of 8 students. In the event of insufficient enrollment, you will receive a full refund.
  • Class will run approximately 3 hours. Please note that the class is hands-on and may run over or under schedule.

Cancellation Policy:

Changes and cancellations...we know life happens so we try our best to be flexible while being fair to our instructors who purchase supplies and bake for each student. Full refunds or credits are available for cancellations made at least 5 days prior to the class. If you need to cancel after 5 days but at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class. We cannot offer any credits for cancellations within 48 hours of the scheduled class.
