Everything But The Bagel - Yes, It's Cake!
In the “Yes, It’s Cake!” series of classes, Laura Larson of Laura’s Custom Cakes invites students into the fascinating world of hyper-realistic cakes that look like everyday objects, pushing creativity and technical skills beyond traditional cake decorating. Through thoughtful design, carving, and detailed finishing techniques, students learn how to create cakes that surprise, delight, and make people do a double take—because yes, it really is cake.
In this deliciously deceptive class, students will transform cake into what appears to be a bakery-fresh bagel spread complete with realistic bag, bagels, cream cheese, and all the details that make people question whether they’re looking at breakfast or dessert.
This class focuses on the art of illusion—teaching how color, texture, proportion, and presentation work together to fool the eye. You will learn techniques for carving and shaping cake, coloring fondant for realistic baked-goods finishes, and adding the small details that bring a hyper-realistic design to life.

This class is designed for students who have prior experience working with buttercream and are comfortable with the leveling, stacking and crumb coating cakes. It is ideal for decorators who are ready to expand their skill set and refine their craftsmanship in a single, focused session. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
