S'Mores Campfire Cake Decorating Class Beyond Buttercream: Using Texture Molds

Celebrate the cozy flavors and warm colors of fall by creating a charming S'Mores Campfire Cake!

In the “Beyond Buttercream” series of classes, Laura Larson of Laura’s Custom Cakes introduces students to a variety of cake-decorating techniques that go beyond traditional buttercream. These classes are designed to expand your skill set by exploring other methods and materials that add depth, texture, visual interest, and a touch of magic to your designs.

In this class, students will transform a cake into a rustic tree stump complete with realistic bark texture, a glowing campfire, and delicious s'mores. You will

  • Learn how to use texture molds to create lifelike tree bark and wood-grain effects directly on buttercream, adding incredible realism with an easy-to-master technique.
  • Discover how texture molds can be used with fondant to create realistic blades of grass, adding another layer of depth, dimension, and lifelike detail to your cake designs.
  • Create a realistic campfire and classic s'mores, transforming everyday candies and snacks into charming decorative elements that complete your woodland-inspired cake.

These versatile skills can be adapted to countless seasonal, rustic, woodland, and outdoor-themed cakes.
